With your help I've learnt so much over the last 6 months about myself, life, the universe and everything!! I really can't thank you enough and am genuinely excited about my future. I feel more focused, clear, positive, confident AND I've now lost half a stone in weight as..."
This may have been a car crash, being the victim of an assault, or even witnessing an accident or any of the previously mentioned events. People in the emergency services and armed forces are more likely to have such experiences - they often have to deal with horrifying scenes they may even injured or have seen friends killed or injured.
Most people, will in time, recover from such experiences without needing help. Others though maybe less fortunate, traumatic experiences can set off a reaction that can last for many months or years. This is called Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, It can also be known as PTSD.
PTSD may also occur if you have witnessed or experienced severe or repeated neglect, sexual or violent abuse as an adult or as a child.
PTSD can start after any traumatic event - perhaps you where were in danger, or your life was threatened, or you have witnessed other people dying or being injured, such as a serious road accident, a violent personal assault (sexual assault, physical attack, abuse, robbery, mugging, terrorist attack, military combat, natural or man-made disasters or being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Sometimes just hearing about an unexpected injury or violent death of a family member or close friend can produce PTSD.
When experiencing PTSD you may feel grief-stricken, depressed, anxious, guilty and even angry after a traumatic experience. All of which are very understandable. You may also experience flashbacks, nightmares, avoidance, numbing, or constantly feel on guard.
Through a very gentle process of desensitising you from the initial event, and reprogramming your subconscious so that you understand and feel that the danger/ abuse is now over. We will rehabilitate and balance you so that you can move on with your life and achieve you goals and dreams.
